Sewing Tips to Keep in Mind
✅ In sewing, there are no mistakes! Anything that you do can be fixed. Or something you may have considered a mistake can actually turn into something beautiful! That’s the power of creativity.
✅ Have patience with yourself. In sewing, you have to have patience. Don’t feel like, if you made a “mistake,” that your project is ruined — remember, there are no mistakes in sewing.
✅ Get out of your own way. As mentioned earlier, when you’re learning something new, you may feel like you can’t do it, but in actuality, you can do anything you put your mind to. Don’t overthink it, trust in yourself and your ability.
✅ When sewing on a machine, treat it as though it is a car — drive slow. Press your foot on the pedal slowly and find a steady pace. If you press too fast, you will lose control of the fabric.
✅ Pay attention to your seam allowance. On your machine, there are lines that you need to follow. The seam allowance is the space between your stitch and the outer edge of the fabric. It helps you keep your seams straight.
✅ Never be afraid to learn. No matter how much experience you have, there’s always something you can learn. Be open to learning and always find ways to perfect your craft, and when you feel you’ve reached perfection, keep going!
